Last Monday, “Annecy International Animated Film Festival” announced the Official Selection Programme for this year. Among the list is the Mexican film “Ana & Bruno”, directed by Carlos Carrera.
Produced by Anima Estudios, in co-production with Altavista Films, Lo Coloco Films and Ítaca Films, this motion picture is Ánima’s second animated film to be part of the Festival, being “El Santos vs la Tetona Mendoza” the first one in 2013.
The prestigious “Annecy International Animated Film Festival” has become the most important of its kind since 1960 and the spotlight to the most acclaimed animated films. Countries like Germany, Spain, South Korea, Norway, Japan, China and Venezuela will be part of this year’s selection.
This motion picture based on sacrifice and love, directed by Carlos Carrera, winner of the highest prize given at the Cannes Film Festival: “Palme d’Or” in 1994, tells the story of Ana, a young girl who tries to find her father. Helped by a group of imaginary friends, she would have to meet him before is too late.
“We feel really proud at Anima Estudios to have one of our films presented on such a distinguished Festival again. We’re fulfilled with this kind of honor given to the job and effort we made for this movie”, commented Fernando De Fuentes S., producer of the film.
The Mexican animation studio has been the only one in its country to have two films selected for the “Annecy International Animated Film Festival”, as being the biggest producer of thousands of animated minutes for TV in Latin America and having partners like Netflix, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Frederator Networks among others. It has the largest number of animated films released in Mexican cinemas as well.
